Can you be at the City Tower next week?
When I heard that there’s going to be a photo-shoot involving the city tower and climbers, I knew who the usual suspects were. I had been with them only weeks before in order to shoot the Testimonial Day. Yup, it was Anna Stöhr and Jakob Schubert doing their thing again, for the purposes of this incredible photo shoot.
The time is 7:30 in the morning (no rest for the wicked), and I am off to meet the crew. The hard working people of Innsbruck Tourism, Christian Vorhofer (the photographer) as well as members of the Rettung and the Fire Department who will be providing assistance and safety for everyone; especially the athletes. Despite our prayers, the weather wasn’t as good as expected. When you live in a micro-climate area such as Innsbruck, things change with every passing hour.
Everybody’s setting up their gear, all safety issues are discussed and we’re basically ready to go, as soon as our Anna and Jakob show up. To tell you the truth, I initially thought that the guys were gonna climb up the City Tower like in some Spiderman movie. I know it sounds too far fetched, but when you see what these guys can actually do and the routes they climb, you won’t think it’s impossible!
Ready. Set. Go.
It’s 8:30, Anna and Jakob just showed up. After the safety briefing and photography directions, the guys are ready to go up. The shoot lasted for several hours, the weather did clear up and we did get the perfect shot (as posted on Innsbruck Tourism’s Instagram).
Climbing with a view. 🔝🏔🙋 Our climbing testimonial @anna_stoehr definitely enjoyed the views of Nordkette mountain range and the Golden Roof during the photo shooting. #myinnsbruck #innsbruck #climberscity #climberscityinnsbruck #climbing #klettern #oldtown #nordkette #testimonial #citytower #alps #view #mondaymotivation #potd #europe #tirol #climb #panorama

Needless to say that after 10:00am, when the city center gets more crowded there were several groups of people standing by and watching in amazement. Making photos, tweeting or live streaming the whole thing. I was also tempted to do so, but I only have two hands. So here are some more photos…
I have to admit, that before coming to Innsbruck, I never took climbing or bouldering seriously. One thing is for sure tho. I will leave that to the professionals. I have learned plenty and admired their tenacity over the period of the past few weeks. Big fan of the sport now. You know what they say: “When in Rome, do as Romans do“.
Well, this is Innsbruck, a Climber’s City. Rugged terrain and steep rock faces offer the perfect setting for varied climbing adventures: from lead climbing to via ferrata, from family-friendly outdoor climbing areas to indoor rock climbing and bouldering.
