Channel 4’s The Jump was filmed in and around Innsbruck, Austria, last winter and was such a hit that it’ll be back again this season. The show will be aired in February 2015 with live events taking place in Natters (at the ski jump just outside Innsbruck), Igls (at the Olympic bobsleigh track) and Kühtai (a fantastic ski resort just a 40 minute drive from Innsbruck).

The Jump 2014 in Kühtai, Austria

If you missed the show last year – it saw British celebrities compete in a range of impressive and sometimes pretty terrifying winter sports, including a couple of skiing disciplines, skeleton, bobsleigh and speed skating. After each event, the two slowest competitors went head-to-head in a live ski jump to stay in the competition.

In 2014, the show was seriously action packed with brave (crazy?) contestants, lots of laughs, a few tears and quite a few injuries. I’m sure the second year will be the same. In fact, there are already reports of the first injury sustained in training – Strictly Come Dancing star Ola Jordan has been photographed with a pretty serious looking leg brace. Full details for The Jump 2015 haven’t been released yet but we do already know who the competitors are going to be. They include philanthropist Heather Mills, ex-England Rugby captain Mike Tindall, JLS singer JB Gill, Paralympian Jon-Allan Butterworth and socialite Lady Victoria Hervey. Watch this space in the coming months for more information about dates and events. I will certainly be heading up to Natters, Igls and Kühtai to enjoy the action and catch a glimpse of the celebrities. Will you be joining me?

P.S. Why Innsbruck? I don’t know for sure but I expect it’s something to do with the awesome city location, snow-sure ski resorts, friendly locals and stunning winter backdrops. It’s certainly my top winter location.
